This is a great novelty beer, though I didn't think it tasted like chocolate donuts. A buddy of mine mailed this too me for a trial. I pulled out my favorite pint glass, crack open the bottle, and poured it right on it. First thought, dark caramel, almost black. The head was nice and tan, and stuck around for a while. The lacing was weak, and disappeared shortly after I poured it. As for the taste, first you get a blast of chocolate, a little fruity undertone, and sprinkling of a woodish or oak taste. The beer is very sweet, which is ok by me because I have a giant sweet tooth. It's thin in the mouth, and goes down with a slight bite from the high carbonation, almost like a chocolate soda. Not bad at all, and I would definitely buy a couple more as a dessert drink. My wife loved it, so it could be a huge hit with the ladies. I tip my glass to the fine folks at the Shenandoah Brewing Co., they have a fine lineup of delicious beers to choose from, and I encourage anyone heading off the beaten beer path to give them a try.
